Business Leaders and Democratic Lawmakers Push for Gun Legislation
The Primary: Following multiple recent shootings, both business leaders and democratic lawmakers have made a renewed push for sensible gun control legislation. In a letter to the Senate, leaders from over 100 top American businesses urged the legislative body to address gun violence in America.
Who? What? Why?: The businesses who signed the letter range from Artsy to Uber. One executive, Chip Bergh of Levi Strauss, hopes the willingness for business leaders to openly desire gun control will lead to a final shift in legislative action.
The Baseline: Soon after, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer wrote a letter to President Trump urging him to pass sensible gun legislation. The letter, reportedly, is a part of “an all-out push for gun safety legislation this fall” by Democrats, per the NYT.
